Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Apexodd (the “Site”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) handles personal data when you visit, read or otherwise interact with the Site. The Site is an editorial publication. It does not take wagers, hold customer accounts, or process gambling transactions of any kind.
We have written this policy to align with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) as enforced by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Who we are
The Site is operated by the editorial team behind Apexodd, publishing F1 betting markets analysis for adult readers in the United Kingdom. The editorial team is the data controller for the limited personal data processed through the Site. Editorial decisions and any data processing are managed in-house; we do not outsource editorial responsibility.
What data we collect
We collect only what is necessary to operate the Site, understand aggregate audience behaviour, and meet our legal obligations. The categories of data are:
- Server log data. Like every web server, ours automatically records the IP address, browser type, referring page, requested URL, and timestamp of each request. This data is used for security, abuse prevention, and short-term diagnostics.
- Analytics data. Where you have given consent through the cookie banner, we may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to count visits, identify popular pages, and understand how readers move through the Site. Where possible, analytics data is aggregated and pseudonymised.
- Voluntary contact data. If you choose to contact us by email or another channel, we receive whatever information you include in that message. We process it solely to respond to your enquiry.
We do not collect special-category data. We do not collect financial account details, payment data, or any data linked to gambling accounts.
Lawful bases for processing
Under UK GDPR, the lawful bases on which we rely are:
- Legitimate interests — for server logs, basic site security, and editorial improvement. Our legitimate interests are balanced against your rights and freedoms, and you can object to this processing at any time.
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and analytics, where applicable. Consent is recorded through the cookie banner and can be withdrawn at any time by clearing your cookies or revisiting your preferences.
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain or disclose data to comply with applicable UK law.
How long we keep data
Server logs are typically retained for up to 30 days for security and diagnostic purposes, then deleted or aggregated beyond identification. Analytics data is retained in line with the configured retention setting of the analytics tool, generally no longer than 14 months. Email correspondence is retained only as long as is necessary to deal with the matter you have raised, and then archived or deleted in line with editorial good practice.
Sharing with third parties
We do not sell personal data. We do not share data with operators, marketers, or advertisers. The third parties we may use, and only to the extent strictly necessary for the Site to function, fall into the following limited categories:
- The hosting provider that serves the Site.
- A privacy-respecting analytics tool, where consent has been given.
- A content delivery network used to accelerate page loads.
Each of these providers acts as our data processor and is bound by a written agreement consistent with UK GDPR Article 28.
International transfers
Where any data is processed outside the United Kingdom, we rely on the UK government’s adequacy decisions where they apply, or on the International Data Transfer Agreement (or its equivalent safeguards) where adequacy does not apply.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection in respect of personal data we process about you. You also have the right to withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis. To exercise any of these rights, write to us using the contact channel listed on the About Us page. We will respond within one calendar month.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe our processing falls short of UK data protection law.
Security
We take reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect the limited personal data we hold against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. No internet transmission is ever fully secure, but we keep the data we hold to a minimum so that the consequence of any incident is also minimised.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, in the Site, or in the tools we use. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for a reasonable period after they take effect.
Contact
For any data protection question relating to the Site, please use the contact channel on the About Us page. Please put “Privacy” or “Data protection” in the subject line so the editorial team can route the message appropriately.
